1869     Laurits (Louis) H. Lauritsen born (January) in Denmark (“H.” probably for Hansen)
            Laurits is likely an older brother of Rasmus Lauritsen.

1871     Rasmus Hansen Lauritsen born in Denmark (27 April 1871)

1879     Clotilda Sasselli born in Switzerland (13 March 1879)
            (probably in Ascona area by Lake Maggiore)

1886     Laurits (Louis) H. Lauritsen emigrates to US from Denmark. records not found

1889     Rasmus Hansen Lauritsen emigrates to US from Denmark. records not found

1896     Louis H. Lauritsen goes to Alaska from Newman, CA (May 1896) and works as a miner.

1899     Clotilda Sasselli immigrates to US from Switzerland.

1900     US Census.  Clotilda Sasselli is living in Flores Creek Oregon with her sister Alfonsa Sargenti
            and Alfonsa’s family (Benjamin, Ben Jr., Percy)  also there was John Gilardi.

1900     US Census. Rasmus H. Lauritsen. cannot find

1900     Alaska Census. Louis H. Lauritsen is in Sunrise, Southern Sup. Dist. Alaska.
            Louis went to Alaska in May 1896.  Louis’ “post office at home” was listed as Newman, Calif.
            His year of immigration was listed as 1886.  His “occupation at home” was “farmer” and his
            “occupation in Alaska” was given as “miner.”

1910     US Census.  Clotilda Sasselli Gilardi is living in Oregon still, listed as a widow, but is actually
            just separated from her husband John Gilardi.  Her children William, Henry and Elsie are
            listed with her. (Elsie is later Elsie Souza)

1910     US Census.  R. H. Lauritsen (Rasmus). Age 39 boarder, single, imm. in 1889 from Denmark.
            New Era, Merced Co., CA  occupation: driver, cream wagon. Workers on the census page
            mostly had jobs having to do with “dairy farm” or “creamery.”

1910     US Census.  L. H. Lauritsen. Age 41 born Jan. 1869. Single. Immigrated in 1886. 24 yrs in U.S.
            occupation is “Miner” with some other notation written on top

1918     (approx.) Rasmus and Clotilda are married. (her age 39, his age 47 approximately)

1920     US Census.  Rasmus H. and Clotilda (misspelled Cortilda) Lauritsen in Gustine, Merced Co.
             Immigrations years listed as 1889 (Rasmus) and 1899 (Clotilda).
            Rasmus is listed as a farmer and Clotilda has no listed occupation.
            Rasmus’ native language is listed as Danish and Clotilda’s is Italian.

1920     US Census.  Laurits Lauritsen (probably Louis) in Seattle (King Co., WA)
            A roomer at 4557 Brooklyn Avenue.  Single, age 51, born about 1869.
            Immigrated in 1886 from Denmark.  Occupation is coal miner.

1924     Louis H. Lauritsen dies.  grave map coordinates:   37 19.974 N  121 03.154 W
            buried at Newman, Hills Ferry Cemetery before other family members were buried
            Louis’ grave marker is adjacent to and just N of Clotilda’s

1930     US Census.  Robert and Tilly Lauritzen (Rasmus and Clotilda Lauritsen) Newman,
            Stanislaus Co., CA.  Tilly’s “age at first marriage” is listed as 39, although that was
            probably her age when she married Robert (Rasmus) Lauritsen, her Danish husband.
            Rasmus is listed as a gardener for a city park.
            Their address (107 R St) is less that 0.5 mi from daughter Elsie Souza
            (Elsie at 154 P Street) [this address is ca. 4 mi. from Clotilda’s 1920 address in Gustine]

1938     Clotilda “Tilly” Sasselli Lauritsen dies (4 Jan. 1938) and is buried at the Hills Ferry Cemetery
            in Newman, CA adjacent to the grave of Louis H. Lauritsen.

1941     Rasmus Hansen Lauritsen dies (24 Jan. 1941) possibly from complications of broken back
            (John Sargent Sr. told me that Mr. Lauritsen long been confined to bed, immobile due to
            a broken back.  The injury was probably due to a fall while tree trimming.)
