Helene Phillips in 1930.  Helene's ancestry and birth date are unknown as she was
adopted at a very young age.  Her adoptive parents were French immigrants.

Helene traveled with the Fonteilles to France when she was very young.
They returned at New York and were processed through Ellis Island on
May 17, 1907.  They stated on their Ellis Island papers that Emile owned a
house in San Francisco at 211 Arlington St.
  The Ellis Island documents also
stated that they claimed to have lived in San Francisco since 1888.  On
their return from France Helene was age 4, Emile 37 and Valerie 32.

granddaughter Kathleen and great-granddaughter Anne.  Helene was a frequent
world-wide traveler.  This may have been her last trip before her October 1981 death.

Helene's husband Clarence Phillips in 1930.  Clarence is the father of
Helene's children.  Two of their children, Raymond and Valerie, each
had large families.  One child, Mary Denise, died as a newborn.
Mary Denise's grave information is given on this website.

Clarence died on Sept. 1, 1981 in Marin County, however, nobody we
have contacted knows where he is buried.  Few in the family know about
Clarence, or his siblings or ancestors due to his divorce.
